Strangers to lovers!

Hello Friend!

Background stories are so fun and here is a tidbit of ours!

Oak started his trip in 2015 in Sacramento, California with his older brother, with plans to ride down to Key West Fl. together. On and Off, they made it to Texas and decided to part ways due to difference in riding speeds and break times. Oak hunkers down for a few months at a warmshowers host and enjoys the balmy Florida winter air.

A couple months later, Leah gets the brilliant idea from Robin Greenfield, to ride from Florida to Alaska but doesn't even have a bike!! After lots of planning and purchasing of everything she could need and more to ride a bicycle across country shes sets out alone on the wide open rode to fulfill her dreams to travel far and wide!

The first day of her ride, there is a tornado warning and a intense storm that goes right overhead. (storms are normal for Florida, but tornado are not) The next day was suppose to be a short easy ride to Punta Gorda, FL. from Arcadia, FL. around 30 miles. Long story short, she got very lost on the one wrong turn she could make and just barley made it to the warmshowers host in time for dinner!! It was one of the most beautiful and memorable sunsets still to date.

Oak and Leah were both planning to ride to Key West, Florida and so they paired up and fell in love.

Many challenges came with riding bicycles across country with a new best friend, but ultimately, a stranger. We would learn about each other intimately, and FAST! With every hurdle, road block, and challenges in the road, we have persevered and overcome them all.

Together in 2016 Oak and Leah rode from Punta Gorda, Florida to Key West and then back up and over across the United states to Montana over the course of 9 months!!!

After that tremendous amount of time, a little spill on the bike, and a taco'd Derailleur, Leah was ready to go home for a little bit.

To sum up the first bike trip, I feel so happy to have met Oak and all the other wonderful people we did, and to have safely made it to Yellowstone. I did not feel disappointed that I didn't make it all the way to Alaska that time but instead like yay, future trips to plan!!

Over the last 7.5 years we have gone on many cross country tours. On bikes, in car, and in our self converted skoolie. Each one special in its own right and I love them all. Now it is time to share the experience and joy.

The gratitude that I feel deep inside, that grows bigger, and deeper everyday is something that is hard to put to words. Living everyday to the fullest and with my best friend, Oakie and two cats, Spidey Cat and Mary Jane, helps me express the joy I feel inside.

If you read this far, I thank you, and welcome you with open arms as a new friend!!

I hope you have someone in your life who you can share all that life has to offer.

Take the chance and go alone, you never know who you will meet, maybe even the love of your life!!
